XLVIII.

Du vieux Charron on verra le Phoenix,
Estre premier & dernier des fils,
Reluyre en France, & d'vn chascun aymable,
Regner long temps auec tous les honneurs
Qu'auront iamais eu ses precesseurs
Dont il rendra sa gloire memorable

XLVIII.

The Old Charles that will see the Phoenix
This first and last son
Will shine in France and as an agreeable personality
Will rule  for a long time with all  the honors
That none of his predecessors will have
And here we recognize his unforgettable glory!
(last verse is a free translation of C.N)

This quatrain is a  deserved homage of Nostradamus to Gen. Charles De Gaule. We won't write a detailed interpretation because it is not needed.

The Phoenix is Adolf Hitler.  (see C11Q053).

On the illustration (upper part), we have the photo of Gen. De Gaule in his exhortation in  Canada:

    Vive Quebec libre!

No doubt about, a really deserved homage from Nostradamus.

There aren't many persons to whom Nostradamus refers through a praise. This one is one of them.

And in fact just the photo would be enough. Nothing more need to be said.
